WHY YOUR DONATION IS VITAL AT THIS TIME

Realistic solutions continue to elude world leaders to implement adequately humane protocols to best address safe keeping and sustainable care of these most vulnerable.

Refugees continue to arrive to Greek shores, fleeing turmoil. Overcrowded refugee camps continue to be more unhealthy and unsafe than ever. Police management in camps is, in truth, operating in an unmanageable situation. The Greek government, consumed with its own economic upheaval, is at a loss for solutions. Prominent NGOs admit this is truly a crisis of mass proportion.

As the dire refugee situation in Greece changes over these years, so we too adjust our direction. We implement compassionate effective action, partnering with other grassroots organizations, providing an anchor for this turbulent time of transformation on Greek soil.

WHY WE FOCUS ON YOUTH AND WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT
EDUCATION

We have chosen to focus on education because these youth, most of whom have experienced 4-7 years of interrupted education, are now lost within broken systems and need to learn the skills to navigate into adulthood.

Overcrowded, poorly supervised camps spell disaster for the unaccompanied minors now living in Greece. Many minors prefer to sleep on the streets – exposing themselves to smugglers, drug dealers, people traffickers, and pimps.

DIGNITY AND EMPOWERMENT

Women in refugee camps are faced with extreme challenge of safety for themselves and their children. Tensions run high amid lack of clean water, poor sanitation, inadequate food. Communal wash facilities are an unsafe, inadequately lit distance to walk. Women confide that they wait many weeks between opportunities to bath for fear of safety.

Among the worst camps, occupation is triple that of the camp’s capacity. Some families are sheltered in nothing more than blanket enclosures. Rains, winter cold, and summer hot temps make their situation further unbearable.

PLEASE HELP US HELP THESE VULNERABLE YOUTH, WOMEN, AND FAMILIES.
